.ase Mesh named parts

Quick search on discussion list didn't get a result so i want to ask.

Is there some way to get the named parts of mesh which i loaded from an ase file?

For example. I made tank in 3dsmax which consists from two parts (nodes): body and turret. Parts are named nodes in 3dsmax. In export file (.ase) this nodes become named gemobjects namespaces

So i need to select the turret from the mesh and rotate them separately from the tank body.

Simple way is to load this parts separately in different .ase files, but it's not usefull for big models.

Name is not parsed today properly. This is on the list of things to do. The only way today would be to walk through nodes within a mesh to find the correct geometry - but it would be indexed based and could potentially break, error-prone.

The Asset system has been built for naming, in fact an AssetPart (Geometry) has a Name property, its just never set.

Thanks. So if i have only 2 nodes in this case i think it's not be a problem to parse it by index.

Thats correct - not ideal, but at least you should be able to get hold of it.
