why doesn't the texture map? basic example

I've modified the samples so that I can put a panda object with a texture.

could anyone please answer? I really need the texture on the oject and I don't know why it doesn't map

a couple of things. 

You're using - a few changes and improvements in that will make it look better.

Secondly, I'm not sure if in the DirectionalLight sample that you're expecting the splattered light effect, but setting the Strength to 1 will make it look smoother. 
As for the texture missing - the ASE file is referring to the texture but does not have any texture coordinates in the file - you need to apply them in 3DSMAX and get them exported.
